We ended up staying in Onley, VA. at a hotel I can only describe as questionable. Our drummer Steve and I got there first and this is what we discovered.
1. Our room had a leak coming from the light fixture on the bathroom ceiling.
2. Our remote control for our TV didn't work - utter horror for the Rev.
3. We had no cups, soap, shampoo or coffee that usually even the nastiest dives would provide.
4. The Gideons had not graced the room with a bible as this place was GODLESS!
5. Our room came with an empty can of EZ Cheese (below)
6. The fridge they provided smelled like ass and was dripping brown mold.
7. We couldn't get a clean ice bucket from the establishment so I had to swipe one form a room that was open while the housekeeper was cleaning a toilet. The Rev has quiet shoes.
8. The place where the "pool" used to be now was a lot full of porcelain bathroom fixtures - basically a toilet farm!
9. To get ice we had to go into the hottest hallway ever - it must have been 120 degrees in there. Here's the punchline - the heat was being generated by the ice machine.
10. All the beds, towels, box springs (no dust ruffles here) and pillow cases were stained with what looked like baked in blood. Brownish red spotty blotches haunted our dreams.
Amalia our viola player, her man Carl and our audio/video gifted buddy and Rock and Roll St. Alan Rand showed up next and there was much rejoicing.
We headed to the gig in the next town called Onancock. There was also a town out this way called Assawoman. Not making this up.
It was cool little town (actually voted 5th coolest town in the South) and the gig was at a joint called The Flameco Bur connected to the European (formerly the Flamenco)- a really awesome restaurant. The owners Ales and Olga and bartender Mike bent over backwards to make us comfortable and we were very appreciative of their fine hospitality. Below are some highlights from the gig.

Behind us (above) in the window of a real estate office, someone had created some folk art that was basically a fish model with a bearded clam and googly eyes for a face - the bearded clam fish if you will. You can kind of see it peeking over John's right shoulder. We had to keep Steve our drummer from burglarizing clammy because he'd become obsessed with it. Below are shots from the show.

Thankfully the grace and good will of the people of Onancock (change that name already) offset the crap hotel we stayed at. Hell, they even gave us a freaking gift basket and a box of cigars for Frank Wood (our booking agent) as well. These people rule! Stay tuned for more photos from the Rev's band mates.
